San Diego, CA – On September 7 2017, newcomer Druzzrug Games launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund their debut card game, Holmgang: Duel of Vikings. The game consists of two 54-card decks comprised of Axes to hack at your foe with, Shields to save your skin, and Aesir – the gods who live in Asgard – to grant you boons. The game is fast and intense, and the cards feature the unique artwork of the well-known Hankerin Ferinale of the YouTube channel Drunkens and Dragons.
“Holmgang is the Old Norse word for ‘duel’. You have been transported back into the tumultuous Dark Ages as a Viking, your honor offended by an óvinr – a rival. Now your own judge, jury, and executioner, the only answer is a fight to the death! You must rely on your skill with the axe and shield (and a bit of luck) to survive. Perhaps even the Aesir – the gods who dwell in Asgard – will aid you. However, there are at least two certainties: steel will clash, and only one shall walk away a champion this day. Now step forward!”
The game comes with two rules cards that explain how to conduct a round and the special abilities of the Aesir cards – Tyr, Frigg, Thor, Loki, and Odin. Holmgang: Duel of Vikings can be learned in less than five minutes, so you’ll be swinging an axe at your friend in no time.
It is fully designed, playtested, and ready to go. Backers can get a variety of rewards, starting at only $7 for a print-and-play PDF, $25 for one full copy (and the PDF), and up to $75 for two limited-edition playmats, TWO copies of the game, and dice.
Druzzrug Games consists of creator Derek Cutsinger and his wife (and most scrupulous two-cents giver) Hye Jung Park.
