Portland, OR — On June 5 2017, Sarah Tantillo launched a Kickstarter campaign for LocalDawgs, a super convenient community pet-sitting app that’s free to download – all you need is a Facebook or Google+ account.
“There are many apps that connect pet owners with pet care, but all at a high cost or low security,” said Sarah Tantillo, LocalDawgs co-founder. “This app is different. The pet owners are the pet sitters. LocalDawgs is the solution to expensive pet sitting.”
With share-based pet care, one LocalDawgs member pet sits for another, who then reciprocates to that member or another – for free. This helps you not only save money, but also meet other pet owners in your local area and give you pets a chance to socialize!
Getting started is easy, just sign-up and create a profile for you and your furry friend, along with your pet-sitting preferences. Then, adjust your location range to see what pet sitters are available nearby. For safety purposes, all members need to go through an ID verification process. This way you know that the person you are meeting is who they say they are and your pet is in good hands.
“Pet owners are already well versed in caring for pets and therefore understand their needs and demands,” said Tantillo, who started LocalDawgs in October 2016 with her brother Ben. “The added bonus is that connecting local pet owners with each other builds communities and friendships – for humans and their pets.”
In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of rewards including a free one-year membership and a PetDawgs t-shirt for $50, all of that plus a locally made doggie goody bag for $150, and more. Backers can also pledge $300 for a free two-year membership, a LocalDawgs t-shirt, and a branded Pendleton dog collar with a leash.
