It takes GUTS starting a new business, so I’d better hurry before my #colondelete later this fall. My goal is to raise $8000 so I can produce and sell custom Ostomy Covers and help kickstart R GARAGE DETAILING and transform it from a little idea into something much larger. In addition to helping me continue this venture, your donations will also help raise awareness of Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis, Stoma Troopers and other chronic illnesses through my marketing initiatives.

Anyone out there with Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s knows how challenging and difficult it can be to live a normal life sometimes. I’ve been living with UC/Crohn’s for 24 years and have considered myself lucky when compared to others suffering with this horrible disease. My flares showed up on average every 3-5 years and lasted 3-4 weeks. Well… that has all changed and I’m graduating to warrior status. I’ve been having flare symptoms for well over a year now, maybe 2, but good news is my new GI set me up with Humira which is providing some relief. In addition to the current groundhog day flare, all the years of scaring on and off has built up a stricture in my sigmoid colon which has been there for the past 10 years, and now requires surgery to be removed. I’ll also be fitted with a colostomy poop bag which I’m fine with if it gives me back my life because living like this is not working. So while I’m off work waiting for surgery, I’ve been looking for ways to keep busy when I am feeling semi-ok and not dealing with exhaustion or pain or insurance papers! Learning to build a website has helped me come back to life after ending a 6 month abusive relationship with prednisone, which really messed me up for a while.

My whole story is a bit long and complicated to share as just writing this post took me a 1000 times longer to write then it should have.. so I encourage you to follow along to my #colondelete BLOG & VLOG which will be educational and entertaining I hope. The first introductory video will be released soon which will follow my lead up to surgery, my stay in the hospital and updates of my recovery progress. In addition to following the #colondelete videos, I also encourage you to follow along to the progress of this website build. I update it daily when I have pockets of feeling ok and I have some fun ideas still to add. People who visited in week one and two… probably won’t come back as the version they got was like the first episode of the Simpsons.

So ya, I’ve decided to try and fight harder vs. sit on the toilet/depression sidelines. My goal is really to help anyone going through a similar tough time OR at least give them some IBD entertainment and lift their mood while they’re on the can. And my personal goal post surgery will be to snowboard again one day and grow this little idea into something big.
