Saint-Louis, Moselle — Dec 6, 2017 — Old World Studios (, the developers of Riddle of the Sphinx: The Awakening, just announced that they will be releasing their popular Egyptian adventure game DRM-Free, to the delight of many fans. In addition, they are announcing a major stretch goal of creating the Sphinx’s “Tail Tunnel”, as debuted by famed Egyptian archaeologist and former Antiquities Director, Dr. Zahi Hawass.

“We’re very excited to announce our plans to release Riddle of the Sphinx: The Awakening DRM-Free! This is something we have been discussing for sometime and feel it allows for the best user experience,” said Jeff Tobler, founder and developer.

DRM (Digital Rights Management) is a kind of protection for digital media that is supposed to prevent piracy and copyright infringement. However, more and more companies are choosing to forsake DRM in favor of better user experience.

GOG, a popular DRM-free game portal, had this to say about DRM on their website: “Although designed to stop pirates from creating illegal copies, in reality the only people who are hurt are the legitimate consumers, stripped of their fair use rights…”

Riddle of the Sphinx: The Awakening desktop version will be available on all major platforms and game portals, such as GOG and Steam, but DRM-Free where possible. The mobile version will still be offered on app stores that use DRM.

Old World Studios has also announced a stretch goal for their successful Kickstarter campaign. If backers can meet the stretch goal amount, the ROTS Awakening developers will add the never before explored Sphinx’s “tail tunnel” and secret chamber to the game!
