Buddypal Games launched 7 Ghosts on Kickstarter May 19th. Game reviewer Lance Myxter (The Undead Viking) says: “Even if it didn’t have some of the best artwork I’ve seen in a while (it does!), 7 Ghosts would keep me coming back for more. It combines dice rolling, clever card play, and hidden information into a game that is both fun and challenging for my family and friends”
The game, designed by Keith Smith, features artwork by John Childress- a longtime graphic artist and photographer from Memphis, TN. There are also 2 cards in the Kickstarter version that feature art by Brian Allen of Flyland Designs.
The game is unique and engaging, featuring cards like “off limits (black cat)”, and ” scared witless” (frightened skeleton). You might even face the monster lurking under your bed. You can go to the campaign at Kickstarter.com, then search “7 Ghosts”.
Hi, I’m Keith. I’ve enjoyed games of all kinds since I was a kid, and tried my hand at designing a few along the way. A couple years ago I became enamored with “modern” types of games and quickly introduced them to my wife. We greatly enjoy games such as “Eldritch Horror”, “Ancient Terrible Things”, and “Tiny Epic Galaxies” to name a few. I had an idea to create a game that sort of “bridges the gap” between very simple games and “epic” games that could bring more casual players to the modern game table. I wanted it to have unique and flowing mechanics, be easily playable, and yet offer tactics and strategies for the more serious player.
I worked hard at designing such a game, and tested various approaches. After lots of brainstorming and playtesting I came up with “7 Ghosts”. My friends and their children have enjoyed playing so much that I had to call my long time friend and graphic designer, John, in Memphis to tell him all about it. He listened attentively, and we were off to the races. So after lots of planning and art revisions, playtesting, tweaking, and playtesting some more, we are finally ready to bring it to the public. I’m John Childress, a photographer and graphic designer from Memphis, TN home of the Blues and birthplace of Rock n’ Roll. This project was a lot of FUN to design. I am really proud of the art.
