San Francisco, CA – October 11, 2013 – Tavern Keeper Inc., a tabletop roleplaying community, has launched a Kickstarter Campaign for development of what they call the “Dynamic Character Sheet Engine and House Rules manager”. They say this tool will help make character-building easier for RPG players of all stripes, as well as give GM’s the ability to create and organize their own game rules.

“There’s two main parts to this;” says Kristi Centinaro, one of Tavern Keeper’s co-founders. “The first is that creating characters for RPG’s can be complex and time-consuming, and for many people like me, that’s really intimidating. I want to learn new games, but I don’t want to go through the hassle of trying to figure out all the formulas just to create something.”

Dynamic Character Sheets would help players choose skills and allocate ability points, making character creation much easier.

“The other part is that Game Masters often create their OWN rules, on top of what players would find in a rulebook. Sometimes they want to adapt existing rules, other times, they’re creating all-new rules to support a different kind of setting, like say, a Steampunk or an Epic Fantasy.”

The House Rules Manager would allow GM’s to create skills unique to their setting, which their players would then see as an option available in their respective character sheet.

The website’s creators, a husband-wife development team who have a passion for RPGs, set out to build the tool they always wanted to use. “There’s a few other sites out there,” says Bill, the other half of the team, “But they’re pretty cluttered, slow, and don’t offer a lot of ways for players to connect with each other, and roleplay away from the table.”

With the website already live and open for anyone to create a free account, their Kickstarter is aimed at focusing attention on this unique feature that will be unlike anything else built for RPG fans previously. The founders currently build the website on their nights and weekends, and the fundraiser is an attempt to drum up support to develop the site full-time.

“We’ve gotten a ton of support from great industry folks, and our users appreciate our responsiveness and passion.” says Kristi. “That’s not going away. We’re determined to create something that makes positive waves in the industry, and becomes the central hub for Tabletop Roleplaying Games online. We just need a little help to turbo through the next big step.”

Tavern Keeper currently promotes it’s simplicity, mobile-friendly design, and play-by-post roleplaying tools as it’s main features. The pair have plans to continue their trend of delivering features and improvements every week for the site, even during the Kickstarter campaign.

“While the Character Sheet Engine & House Rules is going to be a very important part of the site, it’s not the only thing we’re after.” says Kristi. We’re actively improving what we call ‘Looking For Group for RPGs’, and that’s going to be happening well before we start building the Kickstarter project.”

The Kickstarter campaign begun Oct. 9th and will end on Nov 23, 2013.
