A group of young adults are trapped in purgatory and must fight their way out, all while battling their own personal demons.
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be stuck in Limbo? Well, if you are or ever were in your twenties, then probably. 42 Gram Soul aims to capture that feeling of being suspended in life with a very literal take, following a group of young adults as they are sucked into Purgatory and are forced to find a way home.
Ignatius “Iggy” Jordan is a high school drop-out who goes to live with his childhood best friend Ashe after his parents kick him out of their house. While he prefers to loaf around all day smoking pot and watching television, he soon has no choice but to fight to survive as he and Ashe are pulled into a mysterious world crawling with bloodthirsty creatures called Puppet Demons. At the behest of a fallen god called The Shaman, Iggy and Ashe–along with a handful of other people in their age group–must eradicate all of the Puppet Demons with new-found powers they acquire when their souls merge with the souls of deceased individuals that match them. When two souls combine, super-powered Angels are created–but how are our protagonists supposed to share bodies with dead people they’ve never met before?
42 Gram Soul will be a serial, full-color webcomic aiming to tell a memorable storyline while tackling real-life issues faced by young people of all races, religious backgrounds and sexual orientations. It will be an immersive, inclusive story with emotional depth as well as exciting action and a memorable cast of characters.
The Kickstarter, which includes a preview of the comic, is now live! As a disabled individual I’m unable to work as hard as I might like to in order to raise money to help fund my dreams. With your help, I can finally start working on a project that has captured my heart and imagination for many years. I hope that this comic will make a difference in a world where most comics are aimed at a target demographic that alienates a lot of people. This comic will hopefully provide a fun adventure for everyone with a passion for comics to enjoy, and not just a select audience. I can’t do it without your help!
The project timetable will begin this winter and carry over into next year. The webcomic will update weekly beginning in December, and the first complete volume will be available in Spring 2014. The plot is already written, storyboarded and complete, and will end up equating to about eleven printed volumes. While the story will be published online and available for free, I plan on having printed volumes available once two online volumes have been completed.
Creating a comic like this will be a full-time job for me, and I am prepared to work my butt off sharing my story with the world. With your help, I can contribute to enriching and diversifying the comic world.
