Manga/anime illustrator, Garrett Ley and craft artist, Kevin Florkiewicz have rounded up some of the biggest names from online community, deviantART.com, for a Kickstarter project they’re calling, “Only Human”.
The project aims to fund manga/anime product so that the two artists can occupy their first full-scale anime convention Artist Alley. In order to do so, the artists are selling prints and posters of manga style works that have been featured by companies such as Copic marker and Blick Art Materials, and plushies of various iconic characters/props from anime such as Spirited Away, Dragonball, Tokyo Mew Mew and more.
But the project does not stop there. Out of the artists they contacted, six agreed to create exclusive, never before seen works for a collaborative artbook, “Only Human”.
Artbook theme: To illustrate humanity’s relationship with technology, nature, and religion to make commentary about how there are still forces greater than us.
The artbook includes:
- An exclusive collaboration between Toosan and TGA-Tsurugi
- 3 exclusive pieces by koyamori
- An exclusive piece by professional manga artist, Christy Lijewski (creator of Re: Play and Next Exit)
- An exclusive piece by godzilla23
- An exclusive piece by published artist, avodkabottle
- An exclusive piece by Copic artist, KiwiChameleon
- Past works and an exclusive piece by Garrett Ley
And what better way to explore humanity than to crowdfund? The artists wanted to deal directly with the audience that would be excited about their project so they can have a helping hand in bringing it to life.
As of right now, the artbook is only available online on this Kickstarter, ending February 15th, so grab it while you can!
