Necromancer is an isometric tactical reverse zombie apocalypse game where you play the Necromancer, an undead entity intent on starting the zombie apocalypse and taking over the world! The only thing that stands between you and world domination are the rag-tag groups of heroes that are attempting to reach your mausoleum and take you down.

We have a Kickstarter currently active, so head over and let us know what you think!

You need to prevent them from reaching you using the resources at your disposal. This includes an unlimited number of slow, shamblers and a limited selection of special undead creatures that you can purchase with the souls you harvest from fallen heroes. Instead of being a lone hero attempting to fight off hordes of zombies, you need to learn how to use swarm tactics and place your more powerful minions in strategic ways to blindside the heroes or take advantage of their weaknesses.

Each type of zombie you can command has different skills and abilities and only last for the level you use them on, so you need to be careful and clever in how you use them. For example, a wight won’t stand up from a barrage from a couple of heroes, but if it can get in close, it can carve them up in moments, so you need to give him cover (in the form of a mob of shamblers)!

In addition to this, there are a number of spells at your disposal that can hinder the heroes or boost the power of your zombies. These affect a radius where you deploy them, so it is important to use them wisely.

Although Necromancer was designed for Android tablets, it will also be available on PC (nothing to do with the developers being a part of the PC master race or anything…nothing at all) on the 1st May 2014.

The game will feature a strong emphasis on resource management and efficiency at completing levels. The faster you beat a level and the less zombies you lose doing so, the more resources you have to purchase more and better minions for the next level. There is a ranking system, where you are awarded a gold, silver or bronze trophy after completing a level. You’ll need to collect a certain number of these trophies to unlock the advanced levels.

We’re putting a strong emphasis on humour too, as the heroes will (hopefully) be the sort of people you love to hate. You know the sort, those people who take everything far too seriously and are completely unable to laugh at themselves, so we’ll laugh at them instead. We all know that they’re bound to be the sort of people who survive to fight back…they always are.

Each hero will have unique skills and abilities and it will take different tactics to defeat them, and this becomes more complex as different heroes group together to take advantages of their strengths and mitigate their weaknesses. We’ll reveal more about them as the game comes closer to completion, so stay tuned.

Necromancer is being produced by us, Other Worlds Software. We’re a very small indie game studio based in England. We do not yet do this full-time, but that is our dream. We love making games, and we’ve spent the past 20 years gaming, modding and creating. Now we’ve learned our craft, we want to put those skills to work and create a career for ourselves doing something we have a passion for, instead of working for a multinational corporation and helping to increase their profit margins at the cost of our own souls.

We’re a bunch of little guys with big ideas, so hopefully we can make them come to life so everyone can enjoy them as much as we do!

Our philosophy is that endless sequels do not good games make. The best games are original games, and we want to explore interesting new ideas, so that’s our mission.
