Los Angeles, CA — 06/11/2014 – Author Marty A. Brounstein has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to adapt his book, “Two Among the Righteous Few: A Story of Courage in the Holocaust,” into an Oscar-worthy feature film. The film recounts the true story of the dynamic and heroic sacrifice made by a young Dutch Christian couple named Frans and Mien Wijnakker that saved the lives of over 24 Jews during the Nazi occupation of Holland during World War II. At a time when being Jewish or harboring Jews meant sure death, this couple put aside their own safety to do what was ethically right.
Because of this selfless response, Marty’s wife, Leah, is alive today. The Wijnakkers saved her and her parents when she was a baby. That is one of the primary reasons that he is so passionate about the film adaptation. This story serves not only as a reminder of what men and women endured during the Holocaust, but also as an example of how faith can transcend fear. Frans and Mien’s courageous act earned them the honor of “Righteous Among the Nations” at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem.
Marty has partnered with producer, Jessica L. Funches, to bring the film to movie screens around the world. The team is seeking $130,000 in development funds in order to create the adapted screenplay as well as fund other aspects of the process necessary to develop a high-quality, theatrical feature film.
