Treasure Bird in Dreamland is a 2D platforming game produced by PXLFLX, an indie game startup from Richmond, Virginia. The game features beautiful pixel art, and a unique protagonist in the form of a bird, allowing for a limited flight mechanic. The art style of the game is bright and airy, and dare I say, dream like. It features an epic chiptune soundtrack from Orb Soundwerx, an experienced music and sound producer with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Their clients include Marvel/ Disney, Activision, Ubisoft, and Sony; Treasure Bird in Dreamland has the honor of being the first indie game that they have produced music and sound for. This is PXLFLX’s first real game, having only made one other game for a game jam last year. Needless to say, this is a pretty ambitious project for a first time game developer!

Why Kickstarter? Treasure Bird in Dreamland was originally planned to be a Flash game with approximately 7 levels. As work on the game progressed, we realized that we would need better sound to complete the package. Orb Soundwerx provided a couple of sample tracks which really seemed to fit the mood of such a unique game. We would really like to be able to purchase more music so that the sound is on par with the visuals, and we would like to expand past the limitations of the flash format. With Orb Soundwerx on board handling the sound, we would really like to have the music at the highest audio quality available. Making it a desktop game would allow us to add more levels, more music, and to create a more complete game. The Kickstarter will help gauge the community interest in making Treasure Bird in Dreamland an expanded game that would be available on the Mac App and Chrome stores. Mobile formats, while not in the scope of the Kickstarter, are also a possibility. Who knows, if there is enough interest maybe Treasure Bird in Dreamland could end up on Steam or even the consoles!
