Lake Forest, CA | July 31, 2015 — Some secrets were never meant to be found. But The Last Rite was found, and now the forces of good and evil are using Daniel and his estranged daughter as pawns in a game that will either save or bring an end to all of creation, with both sides wondering – how far will a man go to save a daughter he’s never known?
That’s the premise for the computer animated survival/horror series The Last Rite, a 12 episode series currently in productions while the company seeks to secure financing. As a step towards that goal, Spectral Ink Productions has started work on what they consider a pilot episode which they call The Last Rite : Exposure.
Chad Robert Morgan founded Spectral Ink Productions in an effort to use his 15 years’ experience in the industry to create a new type of company and a new type of product. “When we first started Spectral Ink, the idea of producing a high-quality movie or show direct-to-digital was a new idea. Of course now companies like Hulu and Netflix have proven them to be a viable business model.”
Spectral Ink Productions invested a lot of time and money into the production. Scripts have been writer, voice actors cast, dialogue recorded, and modeling and animation began. But without the financing to make this dream a reality, the project crawls.
“Rendering is a huge bottleneck,” explained Chad. “Machines are expensive, and it takes a long time to render a frame. He had a choice – lower the quality, or slowly build something that’s of high quality. We went for the highest quality possible”
“We decided to try Kickstarter because it seemed to be a good fit with our goals,” continued Chad. “We want to do more that create a product, or even a fan-base. We want to create a community. We want people to feel like they’re part of the process.”
Kickstarter campaigns operate under an “all-or-nothing” funding model so if The Last Rite : Exposure project doesn’t reach its goal at the end of 30 days then the project will not be funded.
“That just means we have to work even harder,” replied Chad. “We only really fail when we quit trying. Without financial support we will continue to struggle, but we’ll never get discouraged.”
