Los Angeles, CA — October 31, 2015 | It’s not uncommon to see Kickstarter projects with the purpose of giving away free stuff after they’ve received funding, such as the recently funded Little Free Library project that placed birdhouse sized libraries throughout public places. However, it’s quite uncommon to see a Kickstarter project give out free perks to both backers and non-backers before they’ve even reached their funding goal. That’s exactly what the team at Brick Innovations is doing at their Build-On Brick Knob Kickstarter project. The team is raising funds to manufacture LEGO themed knobs and drawer pulls and yesterday they starting offering their $5 and $10 backer rewards for free from their Kickstarter project page.

The rewards, which are free to both backers and non-backers alike, include digital downloads of children’s books with a uniquely geek-inspired, dry humor twist. The project creator, Travis Millet, spoke of their decision to offer some of their rewards for free prior to being fully funded, “This crowdfunding revolution is all about sharing with others and random strangers collaborating together to make something beautiful, and that’s what we’re hoping to do. We just want to do our part of the sharing by giving out what we think others will enjoy and we’re going to do as much as we’re able whether our project is funded or not.”

Travis and his team still have a lot of work to do in order to raise $5000 in order to reach their funding goal of $7600. “We’ve been so happy to hear that our backers are excited about our project, we’re still just working hard to spread the word to other LEGO builders so that they too can join in the campaign.”

With about 44% of Kickstarter projects reaching their funding goals it’s still too early to know if the Brick Innovation team will be able to turn their project idea into a reality but here’s wishing them the best of luck!
