A Summary about BLOGGERS and those behind it!
Our names are Anele Morris, Ellinor Taflin, Alison Balnar, Gioya Tuma-Waku, Lucas Zaffari and Gino Lee. We are aspiring actors, writers, producers and directors from around the world who all met in Los Angeles while studying acting in Burbank and Hollywood! Upon completing our studies we knew that we would have one year to prove ourselves in Hollywood before possibly having to go back to our home countries and we have all taken that chance!
Respectively we have worked in the TV and film industries in our home countries, have graduated from film and acting schools in LA and BLOGGERS is the short film we want to bring to the world!
Your contribution to our short film will mean that we will be able to film BLOGGERS and submit it to film festivals. This will go a long way in helping us prove our worth in Hollywood so that we can contribute more to this great industry on a larger scale.
Anele Morris (writer and executive producer) – “I wrote Bloggers because I saw so much passion for art from so many different parts of the world all in one room while studying acting. I was fascinated and thought to myself; how can we all be so different yet so alike? How is it that we can all search for the same things in our craft and in life, in so many different ways? Things like love, passion, fulfillment, purpose, happiness. But what most inspired me to explore this is how each of us showed up to the task; so young and determined despite the deep challenges we all faced as young actors and international students.”
So, that’s how BLOGGERS was conceptualized. A coming of age story about six popular blogging entrepreneurs from around the world who meet in LA and come together to build a blogging brand despite the odds of being mildly successful, at times broke, young and underestimated.
The lives of these six bloggers is similar to ours in the sense that this is our coming of age story in the world of film. We’re young actors from South Africa, Sweden, Canada, Brazil and the U.S. We are bringing the world together in a short film! To show our commitment and vision, we produced and funded a trailer that explores the story briefly and who the different characters are. We had an incredible crew (which also included international students) and an amazing director, J.R Curry!
You are humbly invited to be a part of our fictional AND non-fictional story by contributing whatever amount you can, big or small, because as we all know, a little goes a long way!
We believe that BLOGGERS’ value is that it represents different walks of life from all around the world. Specifically young creatives who are stepping out into unfamiliar territory for a dream that only they have envisioned. These are the people represented in BLOGGERS. Each character has different ideas about who they are and what it takes to be successful with the underlining perspective of our generation of social media. The narrative is unapologetic about some of life’s harsh blows and the subtle insecurities of young creatives.
Alison Balnar, Ellinor Taflin and Anele Morris are part of the cast and also produced the trailer which was filmed on April 3rd 2016. – “We would’ve liked to do more with the trailer but we hope you enjoy/enjoyed it on our YouTube channel. It’s fast paced and gives you a glimpse of the kind of tone and feel we are going for for the short film. We would like better locations to film in next time and the funding to hire a really good editor who will piece together our story. Our dream, dare we say it, is to create a film festival darling that will touch hearts and reveal our true feelings as young creatives in a foreign land”.
