Redwood City, CA, — May 22, 2017 | Namu Earth LLC, a Silicon Valley-based startup, is proud to announce the launch of its ecopedal™ Kickstarter campaign. Funds raised through this campaign will provide capital for the first major production run of the ecopedal.

The ecopedal allows users to bypass current water control features on a kitchen or bathroom faucet. Instead of using a kitchen faucet handle – which has more than 13,000 bacteria sq/inch on its surface¹ – to turn water on, water flow is activated by simply stepping on the ecopedal.

The ecopedal features 2 different water flows. The right ride side is Responsive Flow: water is activated while the user is stepping on the ecopedal. The left side is Continuous Flow: water is activated by tapping on the ecopedal; tap again and water shuts off.

A special feature of the ecopedal is Pet Protect, which brings peace of mind to ecopedal users who have pets at home. If a pet accidentally activates Continuous Flow, the ecopedal’s internal mechanism automatically shuts off water after 3, 5 or 10 minutes. The time limit is determined by a small switch on the ecopedal main component – the control box.

‘For decades, hospitals have used pedals to control water to prevent the spread of bacteria,’ said Grace Kee, Co-Founder of Namu Earth. ‘With the ecopedal, we are bringing this proven-concept into the home. Once the ecopedal is installed with your current plumbing and faucet fixture, you can stop the spread of germs and bacteria in the kitchen and bathroom. At the same time we are helping you change water consumption habits.

Co-Founder, Emily Seo said, “According to the EPA, the Average American household uses more than 400 gallons of water/day.² While there are many ways to reduce water usage, the ecopedal supports a habit change; intuitively users know they are consuming less water. For example, just by taking 1 step away from the sink while brushing your teeth, shaving or rinsing dishes will automatically turn off water. This slight movement – stepping off the ecopedal – can help save up to 52 gallons of water/day.²

The ecopedal is available for pre-order starting today, May 22, via its Kickstarter campaign. Earliest backers are offered the best price of $139 for the ecopedal. The campaign will be live for 30 days, ending Tuesday, June 21 at 10am PDT.

Namu Earth LLC was founded in 2015 in Redwood City, California, by Grace Kee and Emily Seo. Its flagship product – ecopedal™ – was launched May 2017.
