Jackson, WY — May 22, 2017 | Omni Wearables announced the release of FaceShot, an innovative pair of sunglasses with an integrated hands-free, docking, pivoting video camera. The Inspector Gadget-like wearable aims to be as stylish and unobtrusive as your favorite pair of sunglasses. The FaceShot seeks to remove the stigma and privacy concerns that barred previous wearables, such as Google Glass, from gaining widespread traction. The FaceShot’s camera, when not in use, rests firmly along the temple arm of the sunglasses, granting it the appearance of regular sports sunglasses.

To begin recording, users flip the camera out to face the front, allowing it to emulate the user’s point of view (POV). To end recording, users simply return the camera to its stowed position. As such, people in the vicinity are either immediately aware that the device is recording, or assured that it isn’t – it doesn’t rest in that uncanny valley of “is this person filming me?”

The FaceShot is designed to integrate with users’ lives in ways that conventional action cameras can’t. While it might be obvious during recording, the FaceShot looks like a normal pair of sunglasses the rest of the time. As such, it’s much easier for users to have it on them during the moments that matter. It’s great for cycling, snowboarding, skiing, hiking or any outdoor adventure.

The FaceShot by Omni Wearable is available in white or black frames, with clear, blue or black lenses. It retails for $199. To view the camera in action, visit: goo.gl/Ha9OJE.

FaceShot creator and Omni Wearables founder Bob Fuziak was driven to develop the idea after almost being hit by a truck while cycling. His original idea — a pair of flip mirrors for sunglasses to prevent accidents — spawned five utility patents, and has culminated in the FaceShot, which Omni Wearables is crowdfunding through Kickstarter. For more information, visit www.omniwearables.com.
