THE GAME

Overbooked is an interactive strategy puzzle board game that takes a fun and light-hearted approach towards the controversial topic of airline booking.

In this game, players are transported into a world of competitive airline seat managers in which everyone strives to be the most prestigious airline with the most satisfied customers. Seat too many passengers and the aircraft will have unhappy customers; seat too few passengers and lose precious points. Do you have what it takes to be the most prestigious airline?

THE STORY

Overbooked is inspired by the United Airline (UA) incident on 9 April 2017 where Dr. David Dao, a paid passenger, was beaten and forcibly removed while bloodied and semiconscious from the aircraft in order to make space for UA staff due to their fault of overbooking.

The creators of Overbooked feel a strong connection to the incident on many levels, having experienced overbooking themselves as well as being victims of racial profiling. Although Dr. David Dao and UA have reached a settlement, the dialogue must continue in order to improve airline services and to build awareness of poor industry practices while also championing social justice through advocating positive change.

This casual board game is a peaceful tribute to all victims of corporate brutality as well as a reminder to uphold basic human respect. It aims to create awareness of the social, political, financial and consumer consequences when airlines overbook and how to improve management decisions and safety practices in the service industry while bringing family and friends together over a fun and friendly tabletop game. The game has been designed to cater to all audiences, providing a satisfying and unique game experience.

ABOUT RANDOMSKILL GAMES:

With the founders’ being avid travellers and ethnically Asian themselves as was the innocent victim, their connection with the United Airline incident has led them to the creation of Overbooked.
