Tropical prints are all the rage right now. With their beachy, Hawaiian vibe, they can brighten any mood and remind you of tropical paradise.
Introducing a range of tropical fashion accessories from designer Kerri-Ann Payne on Kickstarter.
Kerri-Ann explains “my passion is everything tropical, from the colors and sounds, to the flowers and fruits. Whenever I travel I take lots of photographs, and these become my inspiration to create my patterns.” In 2017 she began her own online store where she hand-makes a range of home and fashion accessories, called Tropicallday. However, as a small startup, she has not been able to print her own fabrics, using off-the-shelf materials instead.
Through Kickstarter, she is now hoping to create her first custom fabric, to turn into a range of handbags, clutches and coin purses. Each of the elements of the print is hand drawn, before being assembled into a digital pattern, which will be digitally printed on 100% natural cotton. This is a special pattern which will only ever be available through this limited edition Kickstarter, with pledges limited to only 100 backers as part of “Make 100” month.
Unlike many products claiming to be handmade, which may in fact only be partly touched by human hands and mostly machine produced, Kerri-Ann creates every item herself from her studio in Sydney, Australia. You can watch some of the process in her Kickstarter video, which is a great insight into the care and effort taken with each product. And with the fabric printing also happening in Sydney, this is a great Australian made product from an up-and-coming designer.
Pledges start at just $29 AUD for the clutch, perfect for mobile phone, cash and cards for going out. A larger handbag is available for $44 AUD for daily use, featuring a removable strap and internal pocket. And for those wanting the full tropical experience, there is a special package that includes clutch, handbag AND bonus coin purse for $74 AUD, so you can feel those island vibes no matter the occasion.
Delivery is estimated for April 2018, so whether this is for yourself, or a gift, you can be sure to brighten the year.
