Brooklyn based industrial designer, illustrator, artist Sadi Tekin designed a plate set to create an optical illusion and 3D feel, affecting user’s sense of reality and making them feel like they are facing a gateway into space.
He has been drawing on things ever since he was a kid; on paper, walls, cabinets, his dad’s car, his sister – anything he finds! He loves bringing his imagination to life by drawing on objects and making them quirky and fun. It gives him an outlet to speak to an invisible audience and become part of something bigger than himself through objects of utility and fun. It’s like joining a big dinner party. This is how and why he came up with the idea of creating the “First Bean to Space” series; to add a little bit of fun and magic to your dinner tables.
With this set of plates, every meal will turn into a much more fun activity; your food interacting with your plate, opening the gate, giving an instant boost of imagination and also a great way to create stories. Might be a an opportunity to leave your “smart phones” aside as well.
These magical plates will be produced in Kutahya, Turkey, a region well known for its high quality porcelain manufacturing for ages. The plates will be food safe, microwave safe and dishwasher safe. They are 10″ (25 cm.) in diameter
“First Bean to Space” plate set is now live on Kickstarter and looking for your love and supports to become real. In the future Sadi Tekin is planning on expanding the series to include an even bigger part of outer space or maybe some cats if this campaign is successfully funds.
