In a world of billions of ways to “be productive” here’s something a little different: Kitten Stuff Done. A deck of physical cards that allow you to build your day based on all the stuff you have to do, then “play” the cards as you do all that stuff! The creator worked at home for a decade and developed the system during that time — while growing his blog for AOL from fewer than 50,000 readers to more than 3 million. The deck is now available on Kickstarter for 20% off its projected retail price and in just a few days raised more than half of the funding it needs to launch.
Kitten Stuff Done uses psychology and training to help people manage their time wisely. Each card is 30 minutes, which leverages the Pomodoro Technique. It encourages planning ahead, which has been shown to reduce stress. It’s tactile, which aids memory.
Each task is general enough to be applicable to a variety of occupations, but specific enough to help plow through the daily onslaught of office work: Email, meetings, planning, projects. Kitten Stuff Done works on top of any project management software, or to do lists, or calendars — it’s a meta-tool.
Kitten Stuff Done will also donate 10% of its proceeds to a different cat rescue group each business quarter, as its creator is the proud parent of two rescued cats.
Victor Agreda, Jr. is no stranger to productivity (he wrote about the topic for The Next Web in addition to AOL sites), and game design (he taught the subject for years and recently launched a game company with his son). He wakes up at 3 a.m. every day to work as a public radio morning host, then goes home and writes hundreds of words for clients, edits video, and more. To relax, he plays board and card games, or video games with his kids. When there’s a lull in the action, he’s probably petting a cat.
