NEED FOR DONATIONS: We’re now located in a small “Village” in “The Thumb” of MI with few job opportunities for a male my age with a 26% “whole person impairment and my wife (Sharon) is handicapped with sciatica.

Retro Arts Spirit Center is focused on EDUCATION with a sub-category of Books & Fun activities for Children: Advocating the growth of literacy one child at a time, we make books available at affordable prices.

The commercial section for Art has space for a gallery and teaching art: since we now have a very nice bricks & mortar facility with men’s & women’s restrooms and a large room to teach art classes that needs:

• Better lighting installed.
• Natural gas-log heater installed for heat source not dependent on electricity.
• Money for advertising, sign/banner on front of building & online promotion.

Teddy Bear Clinics: This is a separate large commercial space displaying our 22,000 children’s books and a portable stuffing machine. Children can experience stuffing and dressing their own “Reading Buddy, Plush Toy Animal”.

Financial support/donations needed for:

• Improved lighting.

• Ceiling fan to improve circulation.

• Former antique glass front door with alcove will become a “Show-Case Display Window” so people in the approx. 28,000 vehicles per day that stop facing our store front can see some of our products.

• A large banner/sign on the front of the building people in vehicles at the stop sign across the street will see. We are at the opposite side of the road of “Stop-Sign-T” intersection of MI Hwys. 24 & 25 with traffic count over 27,000 vehicles per day average.

From April to the end of 2019. we will be doing fundraising events featuring our Books & Portable Stuffing Booth with preschools/child care centers within 50 miles of our location to help raise awareness of our business locally and we will also attend Fairs & Festivals in local communities featuring events for children.

• We will need funds for FAIRS & FESTIVAL booth fees and fuel, etc. expenses.

*Back-History: Our new residence, an old former funeral chapel we purchased, has an apartment in the rear of the building and commercial space facing the street where I currently warehouse books for the children’s book business which is currently ONLINE ONLY. It was late in Sept. 2018 before I completed moving our business & personal belongings 26,000 round-trip miles from CO. to MI and we didn’t have any income once I began moving our belongings into storage in Colorado and remained without income until finally getting settled in Michigan.

*Note: We don’t qualify for any bank business loans because they require 2 years of self-employment income records, Crowdfunding is our only hope.

*Hoped for Future: We want to be a well-established part of this Village in MI offering “fun” reading experiences for children. We’re located next door to the township Library that’s beginning construction this spring to double current size. Many library customers already interested in books will seek what we are offering just next door.

We’re too old to move again! Funding will enable us to work without commuting while establishing a solid community presence and financial future.
