Hello, my name is Calli, and I’m trying to raise money to get my mom, Elizabeth, a new gaming computer.
While I know this may sound like a trivial thing to ask for, it is something I really feel she deserves. Gaming is a hobby she not only enjoys, but is also a form of therapy for her.
My mom was a victim of severe childhood abuse, that caused trauma so severe, it something that still affects her to this day. Despite this, she still managed to become an amazingly strong, resilient person with a sweet, nurturing, and generous soul.
Gaming is something that allows her escape for a bit from the PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) she now suffers from, and since that is something that helps her, it is something that I want to support 100%.
Here is one example of why I hold her in such high regard
My mother has 6 children, including myself. Four of us are her biological children, and two of us she adopted. The two adopted children, I gave birth to. Three out of her six children have severe autism.
Due to my mental illnesses, I was unable to effectively to care for the two beautiful children I gave birth to. My mom, at the age of 45, made the decision to take my children into her care and adopt them as her own. Both of them have severe autism, and will need a caretaker for the rest of their lives. Despite knowing this, my mom had no second thoughts on taking on this great responsibility.
She is now 48 years old, and not only takes care of these two small children, but my three teenage brothers AND myself.
She will never have a chance to retire and travel to see the world, which is something that she has always wanted to do. Kids with severe autism require constant supervision and care, so a quiet, peaceful existence that seniors would typically enjoy, she will never have. She has never brought this up, however, because to her having the opportunity to give her children the best chance at a quality life is something she considers a blessing.
My mom is the most giving, self sacrificing person I have ever known. I love her with all my heart and can never thank her enough for what she has done for me.
I hope that by getting her the gaming computer that she has wanted for so long, but could never afford, that it will be a source of relaxation and downtime that she really needs. www.gofundme.com
