Ignite is the first game released by a team of seven college students and recent grads, who have had a lifelong passion for board and card games. The team has been working on their game for almost two years, and released it to Kickstarter June 12, 2019.

Ignite prides itself on its quick-paced gameplay and its simplicity. Each player pilots a 30 card deck, labelled their “Forge”. The goal of the game is to destroy your opponent’s forge, by removing cards from it. When a forge takes damage, it has a number of cards removed equal to the damage taken. When there are no cards, the forge is “destroyed” and that player loses. The last player standing wins.

Ignite plays similarly to other games in the collectible and trading card game genre, where there is a deck of minions with attack, health, and summon cost values, however Ignite takes a much simpler approach. While other games in the genre often require hundreds of dollars and hundreds of hours of investment, Ignite aims to be a complete experience, where $20 will get you everything you will ever need to play.

Their 4-player version is also available for $35, called the Blast Pack. The 4-player version also supports holding two simultaneous 2-player games, and the 2-player box can hold enough contents for 4-players, should the customer decide to purchase another 2-player game to extend the number of players.

The Ignite deck is entirely made up of minion cards, each of which can be summoned for their energy cost to your lineup. Players have 4 energy to spend each turn to summon minions, which can attack and defend their forge. Bot minions can also Ignite, which is the primary mechanic of the game. When a bot ignites, that player rolls the ignite dice, which deal damage randomly, either to a minion or forge. The damage corresponds to the size of the explosion, with flame icons shown on all bot cards displaying how much damage their ignite abilities deal.

Players must carefully manage their resources and combine their cards to make the most of their ignite abilities, attempting to control the randomness by choosing when and where they ignite, or igniting many times, in order to win the game. The random mechanic makes it easy for players of all ages to step into, and also creates an always interesting game state, where one stray explosion can cause an unpredictable chain reaction.
