Carlow, IE — July 30th 2019 – Ireland’s first Dungeons & Dragon Kickstarter was launched today by craft and tabletop gaming shop Dakota Irish. The campaign, Dragon’s Breathe Dice, hopes to bring to life fiery and beautiful new dice sets inspired by the dragons featured in 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons.
D&D has quickly gained renewed popularity in recent years due to the success of shows like Stranger Things, Big Bang Theory, and most recently Critical Role.
“The success of Critical Role’s recent Kickstarter to fund their Vox Machina animation inspired me to start our first campaign,” said Luke McIntosh, owner & craftsman at Dakota Irish. “I think it proved that the renewed popularity of D&D and other tabletop games is not an isolated incident and shows that there is a space for consumer backed projects like ours.”
The campaign seeks to raise €25k and on top of the dice, backers can pledge for Campaign Rewards such as 3D printed accessories, handcrafted props, and artisan wooden accessories – all made by Luke in his studio in rural Carlow. The campaign ends at 2pm IST on September 3rd, 2019.
Known for their high quality dice and gorgeous handcrafted dice trays, Dakota Irish is one of Etsy’s top 50 shops in Ireland and Top 1% globally. They are a small globally traded crafts shop that provides interesting, beautiful, and unique products to discerning tabletop gamers and enthusiasts.
“I started Dakota Irish as a means of sharing my passion and love of tabletop gaming with this amazing community,” Luke said. “We try to express that by offering high quality, unique products that you actually want to use at your table, but also by attempting to challenge how companies engage with their customers and do things differently. We feel Kickstarter is absolutely the right choice for engaging with our supporters and patrons in a way that means you became a part of our story, instead of apart from it.”
