I recently raised over $6,800 dollars and, based on research, became the first African-American male to have served in both the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), and State Medical Education Board of Georgia (SMEB), Country Doctor Scholarship. I am thankful for my donors support!
The NHSC required that I work in a Health Professional Shortage Area(HPSA) for 2-years, and I completed the obligation in Baltimore, MD, at Total Healthcare, Inc. where I helped design a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). And, through the SMEB I served in rural Georgia counties with less than 35,000 people for an additional 2-years.
I have updated my fundraiser goal to acquire completely voluntary, donations to assist in funding activities including educational, that will lead to me providing better patient care for the poor, and under served. I hope that this long-term fundraiser will be an opportunity to live out your personal values, and conviction to support the provision of healthcare to those in need.
Not long ago, I envisioned, and was reported on in the Albany Herald, by Jennifer Parks, the idea of the “Dollar Per Minute Clinic,”
Physician looking to institute ‘$1 a minute’ doctor visit to Albany. Dr. Samuel Williams finding his own way to fill primary care need in Albany.
In the intermediate-term future, or sooner, I would like to develop this concept more thoroughly, which will initially provide healthcare, and caring for a single diagnosis in a related patient, like one with high blood pressure. However, if successful, will expand services. Feel free to contribute, at anytime, however there is no collections deadline, insistence on my part to pursue donations–this is an opportunity to give. I will post updates on how your donations are spent, and the impact that you will help to make.
Thank you for believing in my dreams, goals, and future endeavors!
