The Imposter Kings is a 2-4 player card game designed to be quick to pick up, yet challenging to master. A typical round takes around 5-20 minutes, depending on the number of players and experience. You start with a hand of 7 cards, and on your turn, you must play a card of equal or higher value than the previous player. If you cannot, you lose the round. However, you may flip over your King once per round to skip your turn to give yourself another chance, resetting the pile back to 1 and giving you an additional card. Win enough rounds to crown yourself the winner of the game!
The Imposter Kings is a collaboration between Product Manager turned game designer Sina Yeganeh and recognized illustrator Michael Hirshon (hirshon.net). “The game was initially a quick prototype for an engaging game that’s quick to play anywhere,” said creator Sina Yeganeh. The three fundamentals for the game is to minimize luck, maximize player choices with any hand, and be easy to pick up but hard to master. Through constant prototyping and iteration, I think we’ve struck the right balance.”
The Imposter Kings is live on Kickstarter now at kck.st/39moGLz until April 2nd. “Building this game was going to be a passion project testing some concepts of game design,” said Sina. “However, as we played it with more friends and family, it became clear that we wanted to share this with the world. Kickstarter will allow us to make this game a reality, with stunning quality in both artwork, components, and gameplay. All profits from the game will go into making the game even better for all of our backers.”
