Hi everybody. My name is Tomislav and I’m a cosmetic formulator from Zagreb, Croatia. I have a BSc in chemical engineering and MSc in toxicology and molecular biology. Skincare is my passion and my dream is to have my own brand. I have everything to make that possible besides the most important thing, money. I have product formulations, packaging designs and pretty much the entire business plan settled. I’m missing about 20k euros. I know that’s a lot of money, but that’s only a fraction of what I need. Where I come from, it’s pretty much impossible to get a loan if you don’t have a crazy high salary (which I unfortunately don’t), and salaries here aren’t that great either. One more thing that bothers me is the unemployment in Croatia. The unemployment rate is huge, and over a quarter of unemployed people are young people under the age of 29. It’s hard getting a decent job here if you’re not friends with someone important. I want to do something about that. I want young people to have jobs. I don’t want them leaving their country, their families, their friends, their lives and moving across the globe for a chance to have a decent life. I know I won’t be able to employ every single one of them, especially not in the beginning but I want to make a change, at least a small one.
Now let’s get back to my skincare products. I want to make products based on clinically proven ingredients, no nonsense and a minimalistic approach. I will also be using recycled materials for my packaging. The environment doesn’t need more damage than it already has. I also want to support local business by getting my supplies from them as much as possible. So please, help me start my company, every penny counts.
