As a passionate psychology enthusiast, and 4.0 high school graduate; I (Christopher) am getting ready to jump into the next phase of my life. I am striving to work my way through college so that I can devote my life to helping teens who fight mental health. I hope that through your support I will be able to focus on my studies and get through college with minimal debt. If you are reading this, you may wonder why you should donate to me as opposed to the thousands of others entering my field of study.
Recently studies have show that the suicide rate in teens has shot up drastically and about every 1 in 5 teenagers struggle with their mental health. This statistic shows the huge need for passionate, understanding and trained individuals that are willing to invest their lives in those who are hurting. I have battled several mental health issues such as chronic depression, social anxiety, several eating disorders, and self harm. The only reason I am able to write this release is through quality counseling, and people who cared.
Without the help I received I would be at best a broken individual or possibly worse. Because of my history I feel it is my life’s calling to help young people not only survive their adolescents, but grow into people ready to make a difference. I have completed two years of dual enrollment with Clarks Summit University and I am now enrolled in their accelerated counseling and criminal justice program. On top of the counseling program I will be perusing a minor music theory as a type of specialized therapy. I am the recipe of several college scholarships for excellence achievement and early enrollment.
Through your generous donation I will be able to graduate with honors and begin my career as a counselor.
