Swedish design studio Tomorrow Machine have created an app using new technology that lets you communicate in the public space by using augmented reality.
People have always had a need to express themselves and communicate in the public space. Throughout the years, everything from cave drawings, engravings in wood and stone, graffiti and even doodles in public areas have been part of our culture. Augmented reality is a technology that blends a computer-generated image onto a smart phone view of the real world, thus providing a composite view. Today, there are games, info and guidance available in augmented reality linked to coordinates, but there are no tools for people to make a digital impression themselves using this technology. DimFourth is a social media platform that lets you communicate and make an impression in the public space by using the DimFourth app on your smart phone.
Upload your post and it will automatically be linked to the coordinates where you’re located. See other people’s posts by dragging your smartphone over the area you want to explore and you’ll see what other people have posted in that location. Comment and like other people’s posts, upload images, text messages, illustrations, even 3D files and movies. Why not share your music with the world, or create a dance show that people can see at a specific location. You can even create your own games inside the app. Get creative – your imagination is the only limit. DimFourth is a Kickstarter campaign – back the project and be a part of this revolutionizing way of using our smartphones in the public space.
