Sandy, UT — June 11, 2019 — Dragon Federation announced today the discovery of a clutch of dragon eggs and development of AR and VR technology to access the dragon realm. On Tuesday, June 11, Dragon Federation will release ten styles of physical dragon eggs on Kickstarter for purchase with a compatible mobile augmented reality app. Dragon Federation is launching on Kickstarter to raise $30,000 in 45 days in order to produce the dragon eggs professionally and at scale.

Dragons, previously confined to board games and “geek” culture, are currently revered in pop culture, enamored by celebrities and discussed at length in media. Starbucks has even created a new dragon beverage. Most of this interest and obsession stems from Game of Thrones, and, in part, from the How to Train Your Dragon franchise.

“We want to give everyone in the world the opportunity to have their very own dragon ,” said Co-Founder Samson Madsen. “This started with my kids wanting a pet. Instead of a dog or a cat, I thought: ‘Why not a dragon?’ We are fans of dragons and enjoy the lore of these mythical creatures. We saw an opportunity to create a community who shared our passion. From egg to app, we want people to see that dragons are real.”

On Kickstarter, backers will select from one of ten varieties of dragon egg. Current egg prototypes are made of resin and hand painted. 4,893 total eggs will be available in Common, Uncommon, Rare and Extremely Rare varieties. Prices start at $99 for a limited, early bird purchase window and increase to $1,999. The company expects to start shipping in late Q2, 2020. The Dragon Federation Expedition Team “discovered” various clutches of eggs in locations throughout the Rocky Mountains. The dragon eggs on Kickstarter are from the Mountain Skál species, which are multi-colored and have plate-like overlapping armor scales, spines and blunt, rapid retractable talons.

Common Eggs: Dark grey slate ($150); Light grey slate ($150); Brown/grey slate ($200)

Uncommon Eggs: Dark grey slate/Pine Green ($300); Light Grey slate/light green ($300); Grey/brown slate/pine green ($500)

Rare Eggs: Glacial Blue Base with Wildflower colors ($650); Glacial Ice/Snow with highlights of grey/brown ($750)

Extremely Rare Eggs: Pure glacial ice blue ($1,000); Pure snow white ($2,000)v

In addition to the physical egg, owners will receive a unique download code for the Dragon Federation app. The mobile app will be available on Apple and Android platforms. A team of six developers, designers and programmers came together to build the AR and VR experience. Led by Co-Founder Michael Madsen, this group developed the mobile app from the ground up.

“The intention of the app is to give owners the tools to nurture their dragons and form a bond,” said Co-Founder Michael Madsen. “We are utilizing leading edge technologies to create lifelike and realistic interactions between owners and dragons, beginning inside the egg and extending throughout the dragon’s lifetime. You can watch its heartbeat, see it hatch and bond with it outside of the shell. Since each dragon has a mind of its own, the possibilities are endless.”

In the dragon’s fetal stage, the app allows owners to peer inside the egg, monitor health and growth, establish a bond with their dragon, then help it imprint and hatch. The fetus will react to voices, altitude, sound, time of day, weather and touch through your device. Features of the app at time of launch will include:

AI Object recognition: The app recognizes your egg vs. another egg or object

Voice detection and audio responsiveness: Your dragon will learn your voice and react to outside audio stimulus

Audial Learning AI: The more the dragon is exposed to consistent sounds the more likely it will identify and prefer those sounds after hatching (for example, its name)

Geolocational tracking: Never lose track of your dragon after it hatches

Vitals: Heart rate and core temperature

Image capture and sharing: Take and share pics of your dragon on social within the app

NOTE: The features above have already been implemented, but more features are in development and will continue to be released as they are proven out

Once hatched, owners can use the AR-based app to interact with their dragon wherever they are in the real world; on a trip to a foreign country, flying alongside their airplane, in their backyard. The app includes a “Species Guidebook” with details on the dragon’s diet (like limestone, granite and travertine), a territorial map with exact location of discovery and live statistics like the dragon’s name, gender and growth progress (to name a few). In 2020, owners will use a Virtual Reality (VR) experience (through their own system or at a location based center) to step inside their dragon’s realm where they can touch, feed, train and eventually fly on its back.

“We’ve opened up a community of dedicated dragon owners who are designated protectors of dragons,” explained Samson Madsen. “We want people to have fun. The eggs along with the AR and VR apps are a great way to bring friends together, use their imagination and welcome a new pet to their family.”

About Dragon Federation

Long ago, when the dragons were hunted near to extinction, the ancient Federation of Dragons sent them to their own world, the Dragon Realm, where they would be safe from the people who threatened them. Dragon Federation is the modern iteration of the Federation of Dragons, dedicated to protecting dragons and developing the means to reunite them with humans as companions. Dragon Federation creates methods to interact with these beautiful creatures using AR and VR technology, and seeks to give everyone the chance to raise their own dragon.
