My daughter Camilla was born on 1/9/2019. She was unexpectedly born with Down syndrome and has two holes in her heart. As soon as she was born, she was taken to the closest children’s hospital and spent 11 days in the Nicu. She was on oxygen as well as a feeding tube. The children’s hospital is an hour away from our house and she had me by her side every day. She Will be undergoing heart surgery mid May to close the holes. We just found out that she has cataracts and will also require eye surgery.

In February, the brakes on our car failed and we were in an accident. We have begun repairs but don’t have the means to pay for the total cost. As of now, her insurance covers local transportation to her pediatrician. Unfortunately the cardiologist is at the same children’s hospital she stayed at when she was born (Where here Surgery will be) and the insurance doesn’t cover transportation that far. We are currently relying on rides from others as well as Lyft.

Being able to be there for her surgeries is a big deal for me. Seeing her in the Nicu every day after she was born helped me get through such a hard time in my life. It is very important to me that I am by her side through these surgeries. My sweet baby will be in the hospital for around ten days after her heart surgery. After these surgeries, Camilla will have many follow up appointments and she will also start early intervention physical therapy. Therapy is essential with a child that has Downs. I want to give her the most positive life I can and it starts now. She is the sweetest little girl and is loved by so many people. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Anything helps towards our goal. www.gofundme.com
