Somnium Labs has just launched a KickStarter campaign for MuTu Pillow. Somnium Labs is Australia’s first pillow startup, and was founded by Tycho and Suri while at the University of Sydney – Suri has since graduated from Bio-medical engineering (Mechanical Hons I) and Tycho from Commerce (Marketing Hons I). Since founding, Somnium Labs has been through many startup programs, both domestically and abroad, including: MIT Bootcamps, INCUBATE and Cicada Innovations. They have partnered with Shakes, an award winning industrial design firm, and Funded Today to help bring the MuTu pillow to life on Kickstarter.
About The MuTu Pillow
The MuTu Pillow is a new and innovative pillow that allows users to get a restful sleep. MuTu is the world’s first pillow utilising contouring air suspension technology. This technology allows the pillow to be customized to the users neck and back, ensuring their cervical spine is aligned during sleep. Sleep induced neck pain is most often caused by misalignment of the cervical spine. Utilising these air-suspension cushions also means MuTu is free from fillers, which accumulate dust, and bacteria – making MuTu more hygienic than standard pillows. The air suspension technology also allows MuTu to hold its shape over time, and adjust to back or side sleepers. MuTu works by puling a tab on the side to allow air to deflate from the pillow, creating a customized cradling position for each user. There are three air-suspension clusters: left, middle, right – and a corresponding tag to each cluster, so they can be raised or lowered independently. When the tag is released, it locks the height in place for all night comfort.
Pricing and Availability
The MuTu Pillow is available to back now on KickStarter, and has exceeded its funding goal. Once the campaign ends, the pillows are set to produce and ship to all backers by July 2018. The starting price for one pillow is $85 USD.
