Hello World! I’m Alex, the creator of a new game called Odyssey, which has a new kickstarter campaign as of today!

Odyssey is a location based, player-vs-player and player-vs-environment, mobile app that will be available for the Android platform. Players will explore the real world, encountering monsters from the myths of the ancient Greeks, Romans, Japanese, and Chinese, but they will also encounter each other, and possibly engage in combat with their trained team of monsters.

Combat, whether it is Player versus Player or Player versus Environment (against a wild monster), will be turn based. Each encounter will gain the players monsters more experience points, which will make them more powerful up to level 40, unlock new skills to use in combat, and grant talent points which may be spent in the monsters talent tree to customize that monster to suit the play style of the owner.

To engage another player in combat, you simply need to tap on their avatar on the main map screen, hit ‘FIGHT!’ and a notification will show up on their phone, telling them a new challenger is near and wants to battle! Once two players have engaged in combat, they can add each other to their friends lists, and then battle whenever they want, even when they’re not near each other.

I’m designing Odyssey in such a way that the combinations of different monsters, monster abilities, talent options, and gameplay strategies will lead to millions of unique ways to play the game. With all of these unique combinations, players can spend hours theory crafting, and trying out new builds to make the deadliest team possible.

I’ve already completed a significant portion of the game, and a successful Kickstarter campaign would secure me the funds necessary to finish paying the artists working on the game, as well as pay for server time for the back end of the game.
