Tampa, FL, July 19, 2014 — What happens when the robots realize we’re expendable and start annihilating us? An upcoming mobile game answers that question and gives players the tools to fight back as humanity battles robots with their own technology – this time with humans in control of their own fighting machines.
In Lords of Steel: AI Wars, battered humans have regrouped and built Bio-MECHs – Biological Mechanically Engineered Combat Hybrids. These Bio-MECHs, which operate only under human control, can be outfitted with myriad combinations of weapons, armor, sensors and customized and specialized devices. Gameplay will never get boring with all these possibilities.
A player starts the game as a lord or lady, the lowest rank, with one Bio-MECH. In campaign mode, players gain experience and earn credits toward purchasing upgrades for Bio-MECHs, which are available in several styles. Daily challenges also earn rewards. The meat of the game is in head-to-head combat, where players from around the world compete, build armies of Bio-MECHs, and rise in rank, seeking the ultimate goal of becoming emperor or empress.
“The game combines the best of strategic and tactical turn-based strategy with a compelling storyline that continues to provide players with rich content,” said Matt Lobel, president of Sparrow InterActive. “It promises a story that keeps PvE players engaged and enough strategic options in PvP combat to make each battle completely unique.”
In the game’s backstory, humans gave robot soldiers autonomy and the robots rewarded them with rebellion. In reality, robots on the battlefield are more than just a glimmer of a possible future.
“Robot soldiers are extremely close,” Lobel said. “Right now the limiter is determining friend/foe/civilians. Friend or foe determination can be relatively easily overcome, but we cannot have robot soldiers running around that have problems determining civilians from combatants.
“Still, for specialized missions,” he continued, “it’s probably less than a decade away.”
On the Lords of Steel battlefield, the intensely layered gameplay will keep players coming back for more. The more experience they get, the stronger their armies will become, and the better they can compete against more seasoned opponents and gain higher rank.
Join the fight. Design. Battle. Conquer. And rule over all.
Lords of Steel: AI Wars will be available for iOS and Android mobile devices in late 2014. Get in on the ground floor through the Kickstarter campaign: www.kickstarter.com
