Raleigh, NC — This and That Games LLC, founded designer Eugene Shenderov and artist Charles Wilcher, launched its third title, “Sea Turtle Scurry,” on Kickstarter June 7th, 2016. Sea Turtle Scurry is a game about baby sea turtles racing to the ocean. Players lay tiles and play cards as they scurry to the ocean, and even hitch a ride on each other along the way! The game is meant to be fun and educational; the back of each player reference card has interesting facts about sea turtles.

The game uses tile laying to create a board leading from the nest to the ocean. Players decide which side and face to use for each tile to help themselves or hinder their opponents. Cards can be used for either their Action, which allows movement a certain number of spaces without regard for the terrain, or to Scurry. The Scurry value is at the bottom of the card. Players can use any number of cards to Scurry. When Scurrying, players add up the value of all of the cards they Scurry with, and subtract Scurry for each square they cross based on the difficulty of the terrain.

Furthermore, players can crawl onto another baby turtle; they then get to move along with that turtle on that player’s turn! If that player crawls onto a rock, however, the turtle is knocked off onto the previous square along the path of the current player’s movement. This creates an interesting dynamic as players must decide when to use Actions, when to Scurry, and how to get their friends off their backs!

“We want these games to be played by families and sea turtle enthusiasts,” Eugene said. “The game is meant to be a silly simulation of how baby turtles get to the ocean.” Sea Turtle Scurry is hatching on Kickstarter June 7th, 2016, and will be scurrying along until June 28th.
