On November 21st – right on time for the festive season – two Swiss polyglots, entrepreneurs, authors, and strategists launched their language learning and live tutoring app called loquilove on Kickstarter. As the name indicates, there is more to it than just language learning – loquilove stands for “speaking” and “doing good” at the same time. Once running, each lesson on the app will directly do good; be it by creating jobs for tutors, by helping educate children and entrepreneurs in developing countries or by giving new perspectives through language skills.
Crowdfunding to help them validate their business
Kickstarter is one of the biggest crowdfunding platforms that helps start-ups like loquilove get initial funding by raising small contributions from a large number of people. At the same time the Kickstarter campaign allows loquilove to validate their business model with a broader audience, as you can buy their product for the very first time. As a backer and early supporter of the idea, you can invest in the future of loquilove, for instance by buying language lessons – even Swiss German lessons with the two founders. There are three ways loquilovers help people in need. All the paid lessons generate donations to education projects. These donations will improve basic education of children and create jobs by training entrepreneurs how to improve their businesses. For the implementation of these education projects loquilove collaborates with two well respected and highly reliable Swiss foundations: Helvetas and BPN.
About the founders
Before starting the loquilove journey – developing a meaningful platform to have impact – the two multilingual Swiss, Tobias Ammann and Marc Rütsche, both worked for consulting firms where they led numerous projects in finance, strategy, positioning or customer experience for local SMEs and international companies and then both independently started their own companies. Tobias founded the consulting firm Brandoos AG, where he also authored and published his first book “Strategie Workbook” (in German), that enables SMEs to develop their strategy. After his consulting career, Marc focused on digitizing elements of the value chain for tax consultants. Together with an IT partner he therefore founded Taxoss AG.
