Fine Artist and Illustrator Sara E. Adrian has created 5 Myth and Magic Enamel pins that you can pre-order on Kickstarter.

Each design will be molded into black metal and painted with brilliant soft enamel colors. Carry with you themes of mystery, the occult, strange creatures and divine goddesses with you. Wear as accessories or decorate your stuff. These pins will be produced only once with a limited run of 100, but only if this kickstarter is fully backed.

Higher tier rewards offer t-shirts, limited edition prints, and more.

Pin themes:

The Goat:
The statement ‘As Above, So Below’ comes from Hermeticism, a philosophy that was popular among the ancient Greeks. It experienced a revival among alchemists and philosophers in the European Renaissance. Issac Newton was one of many intellectuals that studied Hermetic philosophy.

What’s with the goat? That’s a reflection of Hermes, which the hermetic philosophy is named after. He is a Greek God that moves freely between the mortal and the divine. He is a messenger, a trickster, and he helps guide departed souls to the afterlife. Homer, the author of the Illiad called Hermes “the bringer of good luck”, “guide and guardian”, and “excellent in all the tricks”.

The Fox:
Foxes have been known as tricksters in many different cultures. Sometimes they are thought to take human form. Fox spirits have been known to use clever tricks to guide, help, or cause mischief.

Some say foxes can see past illusions as they are attuned to their environment and are able to adapt to any problem that comes their way. This fox has a third eye, hinting at hidden higher knowledge. Let this fox ride with you and help guide you on your way.

The Left Hand Path
The left hand path is for people who reject societal conventions, the status quo, what some folks like to call ‘normal’. They are people who embrace personal and spiritual freedom, break taboos and reject dogma, and seek personal liberation.

This is for everyone, only for people who are a bit outside of the mainstream and who don’t hide from controversy. The kind of person who takes the road less traveled, who isn’t afraid to be different. Perhaps this pin is for you.

The Moon Goddess:
In many cultures all over the world there is a goddess of the moon, and she is known by many names. Some say the phases of the moon symbolize the cycle of life. A young girl as a the new crescent, to the mother when the moon is full, to an old crone when the moon wanes, and last the goddess of death when the moon is gone from the sky.

This design is of the maiden, which symbolizes new beginnings and the call to adventure.

The Jackalope:
Jackalopes are a mischievous mythological creature of the American West. They are very much like large hares with the antlers of an antelope, clever and tricksy. Some say they have the power of human speech, and that it’s possible to milk them (the milk could apparently cure many diseases). In order to catch one, you had to lure it with whiskey.

How the illustration are made:
All designs are first sketched out by hand in pencil. Then I scan that image and create a digital file in adobe photoshop and illustrator where create the exact look I want.

If this project gets full backing, pins will go into production and will be mailed out by the end of November at the latest. They’ll be received well before Christmas, and will make unique stocking stuffers.
