A SMART way to shave, using augmented reality on Android and iOS mobile devices to style facial hair. Now live on Kickstarter.
A New Startup StraightShave has announced today that it is raising funds via a rewards crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to finish the development of their men’s facial hair grooming App. The company set out to raise $78,083 on Kickstarter to finish the coding and support structures for Android and iOS platforms.
“I just grew tired of shaving my entire beard off everytime I made a razor or trimmer misstep. I was surprised to see that no one had a shaving app. They can put bunny ears on my head but nothing to help me shave. That was my light bulb moment, I already used my phone camera to shave. Their App plans to incorporate augmented reality to overlay various facial hair templates onto a users face to help them keep their style symmetrical and clean. The app will also offer trim suggestions and tips.
They plan to have the app linked to social media platforms so user can submit their facial hair photos and videos to their social media accounts right from the app. The App will be launched as a free download with ads at natural transition points and ad banners, but will also feature a monthly subscription to allow ad free and full access. They plan to partner with sponsors for promotional offers to subscribers and giveaway contests for user submitted beard content.
StraightShave was set up in Dieppe, NB Canada and is owned by Ryan Vibert. It hopes to gain traction with it’s shaving app to help develop numerous other ideas.
