5 students from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) have created a prototyping tool designed to make prototyping faster and convenient.
Plusboard is redesigned electronic prototyping breadboard that has features that make it useful for anyone who is looking to do electronic prototyping. The project is currently live on Kickstarter reaching 65% of its goal in less than a week.
It comes with a detachable power supply, removing the need for pesky batteries or access to bulky power supply, which are typically only found in labs.
It also has a simple breadboard to stripboard transfer mechanism. Normally, the circuit is redesigned for the stripboard after being tested on the breadboard. With PlusBoard, the stripboard and breadboard have the same layout – allowing prototyping with the stripboard on top of the breadboard. Once prototyping and testing is done, one can easily remove the stripboard and solder it for their project.
Vivek Kalyan, “We built PlusBoard because we are makers ourselves who have been frustrated with existing breadboards. The experience of redesigning the circuit is something we dreaded and we looked for a better way to solve that problem. We also wanted to make something that anyone can prototype with anytime, anywhere, without the access to labs.”
