Redondo Beach, CA — A common phrase surrounding headphones is “headphones on, world off”. Whether it’s a knock at the door, phone call, car honk, announcement, or a person trying to get their attention, there are many important sounds that headphone users miss out on while immersed in their audio. Sundae Electronics is changing this with the launch of its new awareness device SoundBrake 2.0 on the Kickstarter platform.
SoundBrake 2.0 listens to your surroundings and instantly streams outside sounds into your headphones only when they’re louder than a custom alert level. The alert level is adjusted to your surroundings after a button press. “The uniqueness of SoundBrake is that it allows you to be totally isolated in your headphones without affecting your audio quality, yet it still allows you to hear sounds like someone trying to get your attention so you’re not cut off from the world,” said Shari Eskenas, Inventor and Founder of Sundae Electronics.
SoundBrake works with any headphones and audio player that have the standard 3.5mm plug and jack. It can also work with Bluetooth headphones using an additional Bluetooth module accessory. SoundBrake is ideal for home use, work use, and in the outdoors. It’s also useful as an extra layer of safety, such as being able to hear traffic while jogging or cycling. SoundBrake is also valuable for video gamers and people using virtual reality systems with headphones because they’re also visually isolated.
