Ôz Editions, a new swiss boardgames publisher, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its first game : Tiki, designed by Nicolas Sato (Kenjin, Lutèce) and illustrated by Pauline Amelin.

Tiki is a strategic boardgame for 2 players in a colorful and exotic universe with beautiful design and resin painted miniatures. The game went to a lot of fairs and contests in France and was finalist of 3 contests.

Behind its simple rules, the game is hiding a great depth of play and presents a undeniable learning curve. In the game, you incarnate a divinity represented by 8 tikis at your color (yellow or purple). Your goal is to recover more fruit than your opponent to win the game. To win fruit, you have to place your tikis to create totems and move your totems accross 9 villages in order to influenced them. The move of your totem is inspired by awalé, an African traditional game : you can pile your tikis and when you move a totem that you own (the tiki a the top is one of yours), you have to let the lowest tiki in the village you crossed. When a totem is constituted of 3 tikis, the effect of the village is applied for the owner of the totem. Some villages can give you 1 or 2 fruit, but others can make you lose a fruit. The first player who owns 4 fruit wins the game.

You can download the english rules on the Kickstarter page and try the game online on www.boardgamearena.com

The box contains 9 tiles, 16 painted tiki miniatures, a rulebook in french/english, a shaman standee and 7 fruit for a price of 28$ + 8$ shipping. Some stretch goal are planned in case of success of the campaign.
