Currently running on Kickstarter, Mutation Madness is a two-player card game in which two rival scientists fight each other with teams of mutated animals. Strategize to create the best combination of animals with complimentary abilities to prove only the fittest survive. The Kickstarter will run until the 15th of September.
Triple Hippo Games, a game studio founded to realize their game Mutation Madness, is a Netherlands based studio running their first Kickstarter. Hoping for a flying start, they joined up with artist Esther Wijdeveld to convince people meddling with genetics needs to be accessable for everyone. With one hundred different animals, and two hundred different abilities, you have the potential to make some devestating, or very mediocre, combos. Depending on the luck of the draw, and your playstyle, there are many different combinations you can genetically engineer at the start of the game.
Three friends from Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, started Triple Hippo Games after playing an early version of Mutation Madness designed by Tobias Bertel. Convinced the game had potential, they started tweaking and rebalancing the game until satisfied with the result. Whilst the game itself was finished, it lacked assets and was played with scraps of paper. Teaming up with artist Esther Wijdeveld the perfect aesthetic was found! Now looking to finalize all artwork and get the game printed, they have turned to Kickstarter to share the game with the world. The complete team consists of Tobias Bertel, Ferdi Koopman and Kevin van der Leer.
The Kickstarter runs until the 15th of September and aims for a lofty €10.000 goal. One third of these funds will go to the artist, to finalize the remaining artwork. The other two thirds will be used to print and distribute the game! Inside the box you’ll find one hundred double-printed animal cards, featuring the front- and backside of one hundred different ‘regular’ animals Ten multicoloured tokens, to be used to track different status effects. Three dice: a D20, D10 and D6. The Mutation Madness user manual and a notepad for use with the game.
