Kirkley Toys announces Verso – a durable, biodegradable spinning top! Take them anywhere! Spin them on a variety of surfaces! Made from sustainable materials, the Verso’s durability will last for years! Its small size, plus its attraction for all ages, makes the Verso a great gift idea, whether its for stockings, weddings or party favors.

Verso is a toy that anyone can enjoy. It is a designed from scratch, 3D printed spin top that can spin regularly, upside down, and even on its side. It can spin up to two minutes regularly.

Verso is made from PLA (polylactic acid), which is a type of biodegradable plastic made from renewable resources, in this case corn starch. The filament used is made in Indiana, USA, and they source their PLA from a manufacturer in Nebraska, USA. This filament will allow quality standards to be maintained.

Color options for Verso include: red, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue, purple, black and white. There is also currently one exotic color: marble. As time progresses, there will be more exotic colors added to the lineup. These colors can also be mixed and matched to create a two tone Verso spinning top, since the top and bottom pieces are separate. Backers are able to choose their color combinations, no matter what pledge amount, including the exotic colors.

The Kickstarter project is an effort to expand on Verso as a toy, including covering R&D costs of making it better, with different customization options or add-ons.

3D printing is the current method for manufacturing the Verso spin top. Although not the most efficient, it has proven to be the best method for prototyping the design through the different iterations. There are long-term goal of using injection molding once volumes permit, as it would allow for quicker build times. For the time being however, 3D printing is the most cost effective and versatile route.
