Long Beach, CA — June 29, 2018 – ZEROHOUR announced the release of the new Apex Bolt Action Pen & Multitool, the next generation of ZEROHOUR’s best-selling tactical pen. The Apex Bolt is a beautifully-designed everyday carry (EDC) pen that combines sleek aesthetics with excellent functionality.

The first thing users will notice is the near-indestructible construction. Available in either jet-black aluminum, polished titanium, or a rugged sandblasted titanium finish, the Apex is designed with elegance in mind. It’s both a functional, versatile tool, as well as a beautiful expression of its user’s personal style. The Apex Bolt takes design cues from previous models, but upgrades and enhances them with a one-handed bolt-action of the Fisher space pen cartridge.

Also lurking within the all-metal frame are enhanced features like a new pocket-friendly, ceramic glass-breaking tip, a removable pocket clip, and a hidden hex-bit screwdriver for precision repairs.

Whereas previous editions of the Apex pen featured a removable, ultra-secure pen cap, the team at ZEROHOUR decided it wasn’t quick enough to deploy, so they designed a new bolt-action cartridge release that deploys the pen with one smooth motion. It’s got all the speed of a click-pen but with far more sturdiness and security from accidentally releasing ink in your pocket. And for our fidgety friends, the bolt action is a satisfying, smooth way to play with your pen while your imagination works.

Another upgrade is the new ceramic ball bearing that replaces the sharp steel points of previous editions. This new endcap is still just as capable for use as an escape tool or striking device for self-defense, but won’t snag on your pockets or accidentally poke you. Also in the works is a flat cap add-on for those that like to keep an even lower profile.

Finally, the Apex Bolt features a hidden hex bit socket under the unscrewable ceramic ball bearing cap. With a few twists of the wrist, the tactical pen becomes a handy precision screwdriver capable of repairing common household items and electronics.

Remaining from previous versions is the all-environment, nitrogen-pressurized Fisher Space Pen cartridge, allowing users to deploy the pen anywhere – zero gravity, underwater, over wet and greasy paper, and at any angle, from -30°F to 250°F.
