This short film tells the story of an agnostic jogger named Larry who sneaks into a church just to use the bathroom, and winds up surrounded by people trying to convert him. He must then decide if we will escape, blend in, or perhaps listen to them, all while taking a dump.

We believe it is important for films to tackle edgy topics, such as religion. We believe it is important for films to be able to challenge people, and make them think, and question their attitudes towards other people. We also believe it is important for people to laugh. We have made a short film that does all those things in five minutes. Saint’s John challenges everyone from atheists to evangelicals to question their assumptions about life, and about each other.

The film has already finished production and is currently in post-production. More funds are needed to complete post-production and send the film to festivals.

Saint’s John began when writer/director James Tyler Shaw was challenged by a friend to write a film set entirely in a bathroom. Inspired after watching Monty Python sketches on youtube, Tyler came up with the idea for Saint’s John. He then spent nearly a year writing multiple drafts of the script before finally showing it to producers, Lauren Guerard and Kristin Patterson, who eagerly signed on to produce the film. They assembled a crew of their closest friends in the film industry, and cast professional actors in the Los Angeles area. Production was financed out of pocket by the production team and the DP. Saint’s John is now in post-production and is living up to the promise of the original script. In order to be shared with the world, the film needs more funds to pay for film festival submission costs, as well as ADR and music composition costs.

The film has met with some resistance because of it’s subject matter. It needs more support from outside their inner circle in order to meet it’s $1500 goal on kickstarter.
