New York City – June 8, 14 – “Skewed” examines how violent TV programming affects society and how our perception of the world would benefit from more positive and inspirational imagery.

Skewed is a documentary that analyzes how negative and violent images disseminated by the mass media, entertainment and gaming industries affect society and consequently our perception of reality.

Since the arrival of household TV sets worldwide, people have glimpsed the “outside” world through the eyes of television programming and scientists continue to investigate whether the negative programming has serious consequences to the public. Many studies and theories have been examined, concluding that exposure to aggressive imaging does lead to aggressive behavior patterning.

Through the expert investigations and observations of Professor Albert Bandura and other renowned academics, the documentary discovers how we fundamentally change the world we live in through our perception, absorption and actions resulting from the bombardment of violent and unsettling imaging.

Because our experience of life is all about perspective, Skewed examines what our world would look like if we paid equal attention to the positivity in the world and to the millions of acts of kindness that occur every day all over the planet. Collaboration, generosity, compassion, and love for others are just some of the many honorable qualities the human race is capable of embracing. In Skewed we are introduced to a variety of studies that have shown that pro-social TV programming significantly enhances many positive qualities in children and for that matter, positively affects all viewing audiences.
