We’ve just come across one of the coolest little shops in Utah. Rushfire Forge. This is a homegrown blacksmith shop nestled in the middle of a bustling city. Rushfire Forge specializes in creating “Hand Forged Beauty” with an emphasis on nature inspired works. Jarom Rush, the Artist Blacksmith, also teaches classes to beginners that want to learn the craft. He has had no end to the interest in his classes and has actually stepped away from his full-time job in order to immerse himself in his blacksmith work. In fact, he is so serious about blacksmithing that he is launching a new series of classes in January 2014.

We asked Jarom about his next move in blacksmithing. He says, “I’m going to launch a new series of classes. Tool making classes. As a blacksmith, if you can make your own tools, you can really do anything. It’s like having a super-power. A sweet awesome super-power that almost no-one else has. But the best part is, I can teach this to you. The success of a blacksmith is tied up in their ability to create the tool they need for the project at hand. I’m teaching these skills to help other smiths reach farther and create a greater impact. And trust me, a blacksmith with decent hammer can create quite an impact!”
Jarom is serious about stepping up his game and when asked how he was going to proceed, we got this reply, “I need your help to move me (and all my students) to the next level. Your generous support will go to helping me learn the best methods of toolmaking (from one of the most skilled blacksmiths in America), acquire the best materials to use for these tools, and help the next generation of smiths to create things of natural beauty and great use through access to my new classes and skills!
