NEW YORK CITY, February 4th, 2014 — What would you do if a series of mysterious text messages enabled you to save lives? What if those text messages were rumored to be from God? If someone planted a bomb to stop you, would you stick with the gig? “Peacekeepers,” an original science-fiction web series set in New York City, explores the mystery behind these questions, and follows Alana–a mod for these so-called Peacekeepers–as she tries to balance this crazy new job, her love life, and a past that won’t quite leave her alone.

From creator Charlie Reeves (“Whatever This Is”) and co-creator and star Maria Makenna (“A Piece of My Heart”), the pilot episode of “Peacekeepers” was produced on a budget of $26,900 and released to the public via the web on February 4, 2014. The creators have launched a Kickstarter for the series, which is seeking $60,000 in order to fund the next two episodes.

About the Show: “Peacekeepers” is a black comedy with a sci-fi twist set in modern-day New York City, and part of a planned six-episode first season run. With the success of Netflix in quality straight-to-web programming, “Peacekeepers” aims to create a series that provides strong roles for women, as well as LGBT characters, and all at the fraction of the cost of a typical television series.

The first episode is currently available for viewing at Vimeo: vimeo.com
