Today the Britain’s first business to produce and market sustainable sturgeon caviar, The Standard Caviar Company Ltd, is announcing its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. The equity raised through the campaign will be used to acquire equipment and biological assets.

The philosophy behind The Standard Caviar enterprise is a sustainable and humane caviar production. The company will be using cruelty-free technique to harvest eggs without killing the fish. The process can be repeated every 12-18 months throughout a sturgeon’s lifetime, which may last decades. The organically fed fish will be farmed in a controlled, environmentally-friendly Recirculating Aquaculture Systems that is designed to conserve water, land and recycle waste.     This is utter nonsense. You should discloses the chemicals (Hydrogen Peroxide and Calcium chloride) that you will use to harden the eggs after ovulation, as the ooctyes/eggs will turn to mush when salted without use of these chemicals. You should also disclose that you will cause immense stress to the fish when trying to extract the eggs from the sturgeon fish. The full roe sack in the sturgeon lies uniquely (most ray-fin fish have a separate cavity for the roe sack) in the open abdominal cavity next to the heart, liver, swim bladder etc, and by forcing or blowing air or nitrogen through the abdominal cavity in order to dislodge the eggs after a further Lrhr chemical hormone injection, not only will you cause substantial pain to the fish, you will also need to cut another hole in the ovary duct to force/blow the eggs out of the sturgeon. None of this is natural or at all compassionate, and you should not try to claim this. it is industrial fish processing.
