Kickstarter – The Rebel Utility Timepiece
Rebel is a utility watch with a distinctive style. Our goal was to create a wristwatch that complements the lifestyle of the free-spirited individual. The Rebel is designed to accompany you in every adventure you undertake. It looks just as good on a snowy mountain peak as it would on a desert highway. Day or night, the Rebel is always in its comfort zone. Its versatile and distinctive design will not be unnoticed.
The original idea was to create a watch that is a suitable everyday accessory. The concept that we pursued was of a timepiece that has a vintage look and a modern feel to it, an accessory that will look bold and feel comfortable everywhere – just like its owner. The vision of the Rebel was in front of our eyes, but we had to tame it on the drawing board. So we started experimenting with different designs and materials. Leather and steel were the obvious choices.
The case is milled from solid block of 316 marine grade stainless steel that is also used for surgical appliances. Case, buckles and crown are anodized in matt black which not only has aesthetic appeal but also protects the steel. We used sapphire glass because it is much more resistant to scratches than mineral glass and therefore is the best you can have. In fact it is harder and more scratch resistant than the Gorilla glass, commonly used on smartphones. The screwed down crown provides better protection for the Japanese Miyota movement used for the watch. The one-piece strap is made from thick genuine leather and bears the stamp of our brand. The hands and markers of the watch are luminous.
